Salesforce DevOps Center
What is DevOps?
DevOps is a general term for the combination for software development (dev) and operations that support a software development lifecycle. Its main goal is to improve the software development and deployment cycle and enable collaboration. Salesforce DevOps Center allows Salesforce professionals, including both Provisio staff and your team, to improve development and deployment practices within Salesforce.
Why is Provisio moving to Salesforce DevOps?
Using DevOps tools improves the Salesforce development and deployment cycle in several ways:
Tracking changes automatically in sandboxes.
Determining a pipeline for deployment between sandboxes and production.
Improved deployment speed and experience,
What is the Salesforce DevOps Center?
DevOps Center is a free deployment tool created by Salesforce. Previously, Change Sets were the main method Salesforce admins and developers used to declaratively move changes between production and sandbox environments. Using DevOps Center makes deployment fast, easy, accurate, and potentially even automated.
When the DevOps Center app is installed into your production org, system administrators can access the tool from the App Launcher. DevOps Center is a managed package that is installed in your production org that acts as a “hub” for the application. From within DevOps Center, you connect to your development orgs, pipeline environments, and release orgs. DevOps Center doesn’t interact with the existing data in the org, but generates data in the form of custom object records for the custom objects delivered with the package.
